Cashering Now and Then
When I was employed as a cashier before around 10 years ago, I did the encoding of prices manually. So, if I type is wrongly, I will be having major problem with my supervisor. That is why during sale time, I try to be careful as much as I can so that I wouldn’t be able to prevent shortages to occur and avoid paying it.
Now, cashiering is an easy job. You are provided with a barcode scanner so that the cash registering machine will automatically capture the price of the item. Aside from that, POS terminals are already connected to the cash registering machine too so that you don’t have to manually type the approval number of credit card transactions.
If before it was all manual, now everything is automatic. Cashiers are now trained more on troubleshooting when automatic transaction fails. They are also taught to be alert in receiving fake money and giving change.
